There is construction across the street that is unavoidable. Carpets are threadbare and poor repair, but clean.

Down to earth, friendly
Shabby, moist (smell of moist), dirty bathroom

We were there in July 2011 for several days and it was a very good place to know Reyjkavik. If I need to come back to Reyjkavik again, I will repeat in this Guesthouse

- Not very clean. - Charge you extra fees when you pay with a credit card (plus the commission charged by your own bank).

The near to the center of reykjavik was quite good.
The room and the toilet were very dirty.

We liked the informal check-in: a phone number and all room keys on a little cabinet in the hall with the instruction: call! :) We met the very nice hotel lady the next morning when we enjoyed breakfast- which was basic but tasty and plentiful!

I arrived the 26th at 2230. Nobody was there. After 30 mns waiting, I saw keys in a table with a number. I went to the room with the same number and then saw the room was wide open. I understood then that these keys were for me. I went to the room and with some doubts, tired, and without any way to clarify the situation, decided to spend the night there. The room was for me, but without having been received by noboby. The morning, I wanted to go to mu meeting at 7h30. As there were nobody, I just take a coffe (take way in the lobby), and then somebody with a clear view he just wake up because I was doing some noise, told me that the breakfeats were at 8h. I told him that I had to go without breakfeast. This was the only moment I saw some responsible of the guesthouse. I went to my meeting all the day. I arrive to the guesthouse the evening around 21h. Nobody was there, the same situation than the evening of my arrival. I went to my room worried since I had no opportunity to speak with a responsible to pay. The day after a wake up at 5h very early since my flights was at 7h. I left the keys of my room in the same place a took them on my arrival, without breakfeast of course. Conclusion: very strange and unusual situation....and now I see that the guesthouse charge me more than I book with you without having had no possibility to pay by cash!!! I want also to add that the room was really not very clean, windows without any possibility to sleep in the dark. A very bad experience. I really think that this guesthouse does not deserve to be on your booking list, and I have really and very sincerely nothing positive to say. Nothing nothing. I want just to forget this bad experience,

We had one night to spend in Reykjavik and every place was taken by a conference in town so we ended up there. Quite basic but did the trick. Was pleased that he finally opened the door as it was after midnight when we arrived and an email advised me no problem.
The breakfast was only toast and jam but didn't expect much more.

It was fine. Room, sheets etc were clean and shared bathroom (a bit dingy) was cleaned/bleached daily. A towel was provided. My room was in attic so very small. I found the price expensive but its an average price for that type of accommodation in Iceland. Location was very good, close to one of the main bus stations and to the main shopping street.
The room was very small but since I booked late I guess thats why I got the room at the top of the house. Rooms on lower floors and bathrooms on lower floors looked newer and in better condition. Everything was clean though.

The location is alright and close to a supermarket. Other than that, it's as budget as it gets.
The shared bathroom facilities could use more regular cleaning. I don't think the bed sheets were washed properly because there was others peoples hair in them.

The hotel was pretty dirty. The dirtiest place we saw in all of Iceland.

Central location, Laugavegur is only 5 minutes on foot.
Everything is ok / average, but not great (cleanliness, breakfast, hosts).

Simple place, cheap, not far away from city center. Uncomplicated staff. Sheets were clean and the room was tidy.
Poor showering facilities --- the shower on the third floor didn't work, so there was in effect one shared shower for two floors. The room was ice cold when I first checked in, it could be a nice idea to pre-heat the room in fall / winter. The walls are also pretty thin, and I was forced to listen to the typical young traveling couple enjoying themselves just a bit too loudly at night...
